Building mining organization’s premises in the Ananea district (Puno, Peru)

A meeting room has been included in its premises. This action will benefit members, partners and workers with new facilities to carry out their work, provide better working conditions and productive employment, and promote sustainable economic growth.

Providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Additional uniforms for workers have been provided to ensure good working conditions and a comfortable working environment, given the cold temperatures where mining activities are carried out (Puno, Peru). This action promotes fair work and workers’ good health and well-being.

Providing office furniture for the community in the Ananea district (Puno)

Social support has been provided to rural communities in the Ananea district (Puno) with office furniture such as chairs, desks, shelves, computers and printers to improve both their work and meetings/events held there.

Improving dining facilities

Dining facilities were increased to 28 people to benefit workers, strengthen their working conditions and ensure food provision for all staff.

Providing showers

Prefabricated wooden modules providing hot and cold showers to ensure water supply and benefit workers.

Buying and installing a solar water heating system

A solar-powered device to provide a continual hot water supply for workers’ hygiene. This action contributes to workforce wellbeing.

MACDESA

Buying equipment for improving mine production and ore processing plants

Equipment such as rotary hammers, mine carts, pneumatic machines have been bought for mine drilling and ore transport.

Buying trucks

To transport supplies and equipment to and from mines.

Buying submersible water pumps

To improve working conditions of workers down in mines. 

Environmental improvement

Pest control (fumigation) treatments and small-scale tree planting have been carried out to mitigate impacts on the environment and contribute to well-being.

These actions boosted mine production, which allowed receiving more income from responsible mining and benefiting every member of the mining organization.

Provision of mining uniforms and shoes

To improve miners’ working conditions and ensure their welfare.

Hiring a tailoring teacher

Tailoring classes have been offered to women mineral selectors (pallaqueras in Spanish) working at MACDESA, which gives them better job opportunities as they receive training to carry out entrepreneurial projects such as making uniforms and other products.

Delivering healthcare campaigns

Healthcare campaigns have been delivered at the mine and the Chaparra community to offer healthcare services such as consultations with general practitioners, dietitians, dentists and nurses, and blood tests for workers and the community. This action contributes to the good health and well-being of the community
